"The Thinker"

Glass, Stainless Steel, Motor, Pulleys, Mixed Media. Kinetic Sculpture. 24" H x 4" W x 3.5" D 2001. Stationary view. The glass sections are on pulleys, a motor and a timer. They start at rest 2.5" apart from each other. When a viewer walks past he/she triggers a motion sensor and the glass sections vertically slide together to reveal "The Thinker," which glows red while the sections are together. The sections stay together for 6 seconds, then slide apart again. At the left is a view of sections in motion.
